Shankara Philosophy and Teachings: During the eighth century ,Shankaracharya preached the advita philosophy which urged devotion to God through attaining Knowledge.
Adi Shankara Acharya travelled widely in India and preached his Advaita philosophy wherever he went. He taught that supreme Brahman is Nirguna (without the Gunas), Nirakara (formless), Nirvisesha (without attributes) and Akarta (non-agent).Shankaracharya believed that there was no difference between the soul of God and the soul of human beings. The path to salvation was through knowledge. Shankaracharya established Mathas at four corner of India at Badrinath ,Puri ,Dwarka and Shringeri . These were centers of learning and worship.These Mathas grew into important pilgrimage centers.
Philosophy and Bhakti: Shankara, one of the most influential philosophers of India, was born in Kerala in the eight century. He was an advocated of Advaita or the doctrine of the oneness of the individual soul and the supreme God which is the Ultimate Reality. He taught that Brahman, the only or Ultimate Reality, was formless and without any attributes. He considered the world around us to be Maya and preached renunciation of the world and to adopt path of knowledge to understand the true nature of Braham and attain salvation.
